Sound Notes
Here are some photos of my setup. I do so many places I forget what worked last time. This Elks is a fun challenge as far as pro sound!
In addition to putting on a fun show, one of my main jobs is to have every seat in the house hear good sound. Ideally the same thing.
There is a second large room for overflow and so I run a stack in there on a 35ms delay. There is a section across a long U bar so I have a speaker on the other side by the popcorn machine and use wireless stuff to send signal. The speaker is on battery power so nothing is tethered and it can be moved around if necessary. I tell someone over there where the volume is if they need to adjust it. I have a transmitter on a tall stand on stage that is line of sight with the receiver I have clipped to the popcorn machine!
I was using 18″ subs and 15″ tops for a while but it got boomy if you a little off axis so with so many people listening to satellite speakers I went with 10″ tops on 12″ subs so things are sort of contained better. People are still moving in their seats when the music is good so there is still some pump. Just tight bass rather than sloppy boomy mud.
